Baby Registry Items I Wish I'd Added the First Time Around

When I built my baby registry, I spent months researching products, reading reviews, and asking other moms for recommendations.

Overall, I was happy with most of what we registered for. We used many of those items regularly and still love them today.

Still, there were a handful of products I either didn't know about, assumed I wouldn't need, or planned to buy later if necessary.

Now that my son is older, these are the registry items I wish I'd included from the start.

Baby Brezza Formula Pro

This is easily my biggest registry regret.

Before my son was born, I planned to exclusively breastfeed, and for the first few months, I did. But after returning to work, my milk supply dropped and we began supplementing with formula.

At first, preparing bottles manually wasn't a big deal. Then my supply disappeared completely, and formula feeding became our full-time reality.

Instead, I bought multiple infant seats:

• One for my husband and me to share with two bases

• One for my parents

• One for my aunt who watches my son

In hindsight, that approach was expensive.

Newton Baby Mattress

We received a used crib with a mattress and initially planned to use it.

That changed once my son started sleeping on his stomach.

What I learned is that many blackout curtains still let in more light than you'd expect.

Once my son started napping in his own room, I noticed a significant difference when the space was truly dark. Pull-down blackout shades created a nearly pitch-black environment that helped reinforce sleep cues.

They're pricier than standard curtains, but they were well worth it for us.

Paci Gel

Before becoming a mom, I had never heard of Paci Gel.

It's inexpensive and easy to overlook, which makes it a great registry addition.

During those overtired, inconsolable moments when my son refused a pacifier, a small amount of Paci Gel often did the trick. It helped him settle down and made it easier for him to fall asleep.

Arms-Up Sleep Sacks

We used a budget-friendly version of the popular arms-up sleep sacks, and I wish I'd registered for more.

Between spit-up, diaper leaks, and constant laundry, having only one or two wasn't enough.

If your baby prefers sleeping with their arms up, I'd recommend keeping at least four in rotation. You'll likely use them more than you expect.

Pumping Spray

This is another product I didn't discover until I needed it.

Pumping spray is applied to pump flanges before pumping, helping reduce friction and improve comfort.

It's a small, inexpensive item, but it made a noticeable difference in my pumping experience. If you plan to breastfeed or pump, it's worth adding to your registry.

Final Thoughts

If I were building my baby registry again, these are the products I'd prioritize.

Some solved problems I never anticipated, while others made challenging phases, like formula feeding, sleep struggles, and daily transitions, much easier.

The reality is that you don't always know what you'll need until your baby arrives. Every family is different, but these are the items that had the biggest impact on our day-to-day life, and I wish I'd known about them sooner.
